I received my cosmetology license in 1980. I attended a beauty college in Mission Viejo, called Touch of Beauty. It was like any average beauty college, and I certainly was no "natural" beautician at first. But the longer I have worked in this business, the more passionate I HAVE BECOME. At this time, I cannot imagine doing anything else! I have the best clients in the world! I'm serious! Just stop by any time I am working and check it out. My passion is definitely coloring hair - any color. I don't care if it's natural looking or edgy to the max. And I just love to give a cut to my colors that suits you and your new color the best. There are some things I do not do: WEDDINGS/PROMS (that would be up-dos). No thanks! I send them to my fellow salon professionals for an awesome job! Maybe someday…I'll let you know.
I have been trained to educate my fellow salon professionals about the non-ammonia hair colors I use. I trained in Orange County and did some teaching there from Orange County to San Bernardino County. Then I trained many years later again with Nova Salon Systems in Los Gatos, CA, and did a little teaching in San Luis Obispo County with a hot little number named Joel. Hi, Honey! How are ya? It is always a great honor and pleasure to get out from behind the chair and meet fellow hair artists. I wish I could have continued doing that, but as luck would have it…I just kept having more babies and needed to do hair to make a better living for us.
At this point, I have a very full life living and working in this perfect little town of Arroyo Grande where most are connected by two degrees of separation. You need only talk to someone for about ten minutes in order to figure it out. For example, the other day I did a gal's hair that was from Paso Robles, who was referred to me by a gal in Yorba Linda. We talked for about ten minutes and figured out my father was her high school principal in Tustin in 1980. Then I met a gal from Michigan whose family was from Decatur, Michigan. I took her grandparents' names home and my mom and dad knew them well! I love this small-town atmosphere. I get a kick out of it and it keeps us honest!
